I know this has been done before, but I great fun I must say. Well, the rules are simple, you must build a robot on one side of the battle field. Can't build over the red line, or outside the arena. Absolutely no glitches at all! And there can be not player interaction. Now build! Might make another arena later on. And it must be fighting another robot. You can fight one made by another player.

    P.S.!
Also, you have to give your robot a cool name.

    Heh.

Don't worry, mine doesn't have to count. It just is a test specimen of mine. It's overpowered, but yeah. If you can resist the missiles, then you'll win because of the recoil. And I timed the count so that the missiles shouldn't hit the ground themselves, unless bounced from an enemy already falling off.

    re: Bio Wins
i have no idea why that 'glitch' happens.
i've seen it happen to other bots as well ...
i think it's something in the arena, not in the robots.-----------------

figured a wedge would be a good design and hard to beat.
would take something specially designed for it.
    and so ...

    actually ...
it can be done more simply/legitimately.

    of course ...
the ideal would be to have a bot that beats all comers. ;)
    a tournament seems in order.-----------------

I like the idea of the tournament. So here's how it will work. Each person must submit one bot as their entry. Then I will battle every bot against another. And so on... The last one standing will win. The tournament will start on October 6th. After that, no more bots will be accepted. Then it begins... For now, keep posting bots to see how well they'll do.

i agree with the tournament but i think we should have some rules set,

first of all, we've all probably broken the rule of editing the settings, (density, friction)
for the tournament, i think they should remain default.

second, rules for winning, i think in order to be considered victorious,
instead of the first bot to hit the ground looses,
the first bot to push the other bot back to it's starting point should win
griz's models are more evasion techniques,
if the time continued they would have been pulled down to their own sides along with my bot

thirdly, we should whisper our bots to The Dude so he can set up the tournament
this way everyone wont be able to see each other's bots prior to fighting.

:D so let the tournament begin!

    EDIT: two new ideas

1 - no sliding joints. watch explanation.

2 - i think we should create a scale to weigh our bots, then set a limit on the weight,
or against what i said before, be allowed to edit settings as long as it goes within the weight limit
i think weight is important because i set the density and friction back to default for both our bots before the demo
The Dude's bot won, but then i added a huge ball on my bot... now i win... therefore we need a weight limit

Agreed. So please, everyone, from now on, just whisper your entry's to me. You can keep posting bots to test what you should add. So you can post it here before the event starts. But not your real one. Like I said, only for testing what your up against. Now, I do agree that you cannot edit the settings of anything. If you want to use a motor on a hinge, no faster than 500. That should work very well for any robot. I made this scale to test how heavy a bot is. You can't make it bigger than the red box, and must not be too heavy, or too light.

Now, I also think that graphics should be added. Just seeing blue shapes get's kinda old. As I did with Mr. Push. I'm sure most of you will agree. No super powerful weapons. (Such as the rocket.) You can have guns and swords and stuff, but not super powerful. Here, I also made this tool to see how powerful it is. Place the front of the gun right in font of the gun. Not the robot itself, but just the gun. Fire it. If the bock goes too far, you need to scale the gun down.

And that about sums it up. I'll make a new arena for the event. But I won't shown it until then...-----------------

    in any engineering project ...
one has to first know what needs to be accomplished ...
what has to be overcome, what the goal is.
unless one has some idea of what the arena is going to be ...
and what the task is going to be, what is to be overcome ...
then there's nothing to plan and you might as well just
    toss the dice.
there should be specific goals ...
and they should be well described ...
    else there's really no point.

that's why i didn't try to come up with
anything other than a simple bot.
it's too 'wide open' to waste much time
    in designing anything complicated.

    to this point ...
my bots were not 'evasive' ...
as there were no rules in place to forbid much.
there were no rules about altering settings.
the only 'rule' was to not hit the floor first ...
so i found a strategy that did that.
    ever watch sumo wrestling?
    or aikido?
using the opponent's force against them?

so rules do have to be in place ...
and they have to be specific ...
and one has to know what the arena/playing field is
    going to be ...
or this contest will be too wide open to go anywhere.

    anyway ...
this has all been done here before.-----------------

I know this has all been done before. As I said in the first comment. But I just wanted to bring it back so it can be done again Well, I shall post the arena up as soon as I finish it. It will have some traps, and a lot of triggers in it too. Also, no. I have not seen sumo wrestling. But I do know what it is. Sort-of.-----------------

how do you win / loose? the arena doesn't exactly have a pit...
do we give our robot's health? do we give their attack's damage?
i dont get it ? but i think any of that would over complicate it...

    the 9th!!!
some of us work and others go to school ...
and have lives outside of the internet.
    who has time for deadlines!
    why set a time limit?
let it be open ended ...
let people continue to improve on entries.-----------------

well, seeing it isn't happening at all ...
    what's to lose?

i'll telling you right now ...
i'm not interested in meeting some arbitrary deadline
that doesn't need to be there.
there is no room or time for thinking out or designing
anything or playing off of other's designs.
    so ...
    why bother?
looks to me like others feel much the same ...
