As everybody wants challenges, I post a new one.
The idea is simple: make a machine that solves the problem.

    Rules:
    1. You can choose any editor version.
    2. Your machine itself must have no triggers.
    3. You can use triggers for other stuff (menus etc.)
    4. You must solve the problem!

Stats that should get your attention::
    1. Workability. Your design should work, and it should stand as much load as possible.
    2. Compactness. Your design should be little, so it can be embedded into larger designs. (And I`m planning to do it)
    3. Originality. Nothing to explain.

    Designes to draw inspiration out:
    MCC's violin car: http://forum.colorinfection.com/comm...
[offtopic]Oh, irony. I wanted to check if I saw it when it was posted. It was posted 2 days before I registered.[/offtopic]
    Monotof's working pen: http://www.phyard.com/design/Monotof...

    Useful links:
    MCC's shape maker: http://forum.colorinfection.com/comm...

    Current problems:
Easy: make a car with a break pedal.
Meduim: make a car with an accelerate (or reverse) pedal.
Hard: make a car with adjustable speed.

    Easy: make a conveyor belt.
Medium: make an absolutely flat conveyor belt (Must be flat wile transporting something).
Hard: make a flat conveyor belt with a reverse button/whatever.-----------------

Madball, I would have an entry if MCC's Shape Maker was still available.
The links given (all of them) are all broken, except for Tapir's .exe. :(
Because I cannot use a .exe file on a Mac, I have no choice but to use the .xml file.
Does anyone have the .xml Shape Maker?
Perhaps MCC himself might be of some help, if he was here.-----------------
    Hopefully PA is inconsistent.

    Woot!
Just heard my name, so I came back running to see what was going on!
What can I say... I'm sorry for my disappearance? I guess that phrase is a bit pointless in this forum after all this time. We all already know how the randomized waves of mood and interest goes up and down for no reason...! ;)

Unfortunately, I have not a copy of the shape maker's .xml, as I deleted a lot of old stuff after reformatting my PC several times. :(
The most I can do is to attempt to rebuild it, and after two years of serious academic programming learning, I feel I can... should... MUST be able to do it a lot faster this time. EDIT: By the way, I'll have to re-study the source code to keep the new changes into account. That shouldn't take long anyway.

We will see if I can do it fast enough to make it on time for it to prove useful for this contest. ;)
And then... this contest is... well!
The kind I like! How long has it been since people made actual physic-based machines?
Did I actually make that violin car? It's been so long... :)
    Well. I guess I'll participate.-----------------
    I'm still around... observing.
I leave all that I own to my cat guppy

My easy solution (spacebar(or any key?) to press/release):

My medium solution (spacebar(or any key?) to press/release, number is velocity):

    New problem:
    Easy: make a conveyor belt.
Medium: make a conveyor belt with a flat surface (Must be flat while transporting something).
Hard: make a conveyor belt with a flat surface and a reverse button/whatever.-----------------

Here's an interesting (but not perfect) hingeless solution for the Easy problem:

It doesn't work very well for round objects, especially large ones. This construction is also overly complex, but this is because I intend to use take this idea further for the Medium and possibly Hard challenges.-----------------
    Hopefully PA is inconsistent.

    HAYO!
Did you think that challenges are over? You were mistaken!!!
Here is another challenge for u:
    Infect teh yellow!

    Mah rules:
    1. No triggarz!
    2. No yellows/browns/greens!
    3. No user input!
    4. No gravity changes!
    5. No initial entity changes!
    6. Build between the red lines!
    7. You MAY adjust the size of the world, just make sure shapes have the same position relative to the red lines!

    AND/OR:
    8. Build in spirit of challenge.

    Go! I belive in you!-----------------

    Ooh! Interesting challenge.
    Random inputs, eh?
It's a great test of our mechanical prowess (and has some programming aspects to it as well).
But I don't have much time right now, so I'll just use my loophole solution:

None of the rules state that I can't modify the object's properties (it only bans movement of them), so I simply unmade the brown's brothers. :P
This way, it isn't rotated and teleported with the large blue rectangle and small attachment.

I'll come up with an 'actual' solution sometime later.
    ----
EDIT: I found that VERY rarely (once in a blue moon), the blue box is teleported such that the brown bar doesn't fall nicely into the target because of said small attachment. So, I just made the brown bar a sensor object as well. :P-----------------
    Hopefully PA is inconsistent.

@Xyuzhg: Thanks for pointing it out. I will wait until you will have much free time (I suppose I will do it myself sooner).
@Vincent: I never saw it solved, but I belive it can be. I tried about 25 times, and only once it entered the hole, but upside down. Then the chance is approx 1% (or 2%?) [edit](Around 1.33%)[/edit].-----------------

i will not look at Madball's solution until I make a solution myself for any situation :P

interesting challenge though! i shall try it out in the coming hours :)

here's mine, works about 85% of the time, other 15% of the time it goes in upside down :(

its a lot simpler than yours Madball xD

Great solution indeed! Althrough it's not 100% accurate, it can be used multiple times. That's what I aimed for.
(It seems my solution sometimes jams in the beginnig. Gotta fix it.)-----------------

    I have finished my solution!
It's very simple; in fact, it fits in the level given without any size modifications.
I did, however, just change the initial speed (it moves very slowly):

It has a success rate very near 100% (I've only seen it fail once through a glitch), and can be used any number of times.
I got the idea while reading about hemoglobin. :P-----------------
    Hopefully PA is inconsistent.

wow Xyuzhg very nice!!! although i do not think you increased the level speed enough!!! :P

Well, I was looking at the rules:
    "1. No triggarz!"
It seems to imply that I can't use a SetLevelSpeed API to do the dirty work, so I just went to the simulation settings.
But there, 4x speed is the fastest initial setting.

Madball, I'd like to propose allowing us to at least modify some basic level properties (excluding gravity) through triggers.-----------------
    Hopefully PA is inconsistent.
