On request, I have decided to start working on a multiplayer chess design. As I personally might end up forgetting about the project if I left it in a file somewhere, I decided to post it publicly here and make progressive edits until the project is complete.

At the moment, I've only completed the general user interface, with absolutely no code behind it at all. I'm envisaging a list of features I really want to implement, which are mostly reflected in the illustration below.

    Removed.-----------------
    Hopefully PA is inconsistent.

    "interesting design", very "unique" :)
nah, this is great. An easy and simple multiplayer chess would be a good thing to have on the forum! :D-----------------

Chess? Wow. How are you going to get castling, promotion, check, enpassant, etc?-----------------
If less people are active, that will only make for even less activity. Start making those designs!

OK, with the implementation of the basic chess system I managed to blow up the file size, so it's on Phyard now.
Here's a link to the half-published version 0.5. Only local games are currently supported.

    Removed. See below.

The next two features I plan to implement are pawn promotion and time controls. Otherwise, the game works as it should.-----------------

The forum seems to allow over 30,000 bytes, as proven by some other threads like the first "post your challenges here" thread.-----------------

I've successfully implemented promotion and time controls, and expanded the board slightly to make it nicer to play on. Now there shouldn't be any problems with the local mode, so I will begin working on multiplayer and an options panel.

    Here it is: http://www.phyard.com/design/xyuzhg/...

If I post it here, the ~100kB play code will be truncated and won't display correctly.-----------------
    Hopefully PA is inconsistent.

Wow, this is great! I think the reason for the massive play code is you're using images for the pieces, board, etc which take up about 10 KB each. Just a simple coin sound effect (ba-DINK!) is like 7,000 bytes.-----------------

    Currently, no ways.
It is possible in technical view, but needs much work to prepare.
An asset repository is needed to build as a module of phyard to serve sound and other binary files.
And the playcode must be posted on Phyard.com.-----------------

    Math, two things.

    1. It already worked about a month ago.
    2. Board flipping was included in the first version, but I got dizzy after looking at a board that flips every single move.

Ok, so it should be manual, not automatic?
Or you can toggle the animation.-----------------
